Rhianedd Guest House is proud to announce:
This once in a lifetime tour of 3 of the UK’s most famous aircraft:
• Concorde G-BOAC, British Airways Flagship.
Concorde 204 was initially used by the manufacturers, BAC, to complete Certificate of airworthiness items,
such as air conditioning system checks and auto landing trials. After the completion of these tests,
204 was used on route proving duties around the world. Alpha Charlie was mainly based in Bahrain but also
flew some routes out of Singapore. The aircraft was returned to BAC in 1976 (after completing 141 flights)
to be refurbished for airliner service. G-BOAC was officially delivered to BA on the 13th Feb 1976.As G-BOAC is the oldest Concorde in the BA fleet, although not the oldest officially owned by BA
(That honour falls to G-BOAA), it is also the heaviest; mainly due to the fact that it was one of the first built
and the other aircraft all benefited from the design being tweaked and the weight being reduced as production went along.British Airways consider Alpha Charlie as the flagship of their Flagship fleet as it carries the letters 'BOAC'
which were also the initials of the British Overseas Airways Corporation – the forerunner, along with British European Airlines, to British Airways.• DC-10.
Monarch was established on 1 June 1967 by Bill Hodgson and Don Peacock, with finance from the Swiss Mantegazza
and Albek families who still own it. Monarch started operations on 5 April 1968 using a Bristol 175 Britannia
turboprop. In 1971, Monarch entered the jet age with the Boeing 720 aircraft. By 1976 all Monarch's fleet were jets.In 2000 Monarch launched their website. Monarch disposed of the only McDonnell Douglas DC-10 in the fleet
(G-DMCA) in 2002 and donated the front section for use at Manchester Airport Aviation Viewing Park.• RJX-100, the last civilian airline built in the UK.
The Avro RJX was the latest development of the successful Avro RJ and BAE 146 family of aircraft.
The RJX development has been carried out by an industrial partnership comprising BAE Systems (Operations) Ltd
In December 2001, BAE Systems announced that it was to cancel
